Why Trump’s Threats Of Power Transition Aren’t Worrying.

In our last article here at The American Centrist we discussed the looming threats of voter fraud. Despite mail fraud being a very small portion of possible vote manipulation, President Trump continues to tout it as the number one concern in the coming election. He has gone as far to say that he will not transition power peacefully, raisinging concerns across the country that the results of the coming election maybe be strongly contested and even result in mass, possibly violent, protests.

“We’re going to have to see what happens. You know that. I’ve been complaining very strongly about the ballots. And the ballots are a disaster,” Trump said, alluding to his unsubstantiated arguments about widespread mail-in ballot fraud.

The FBI has said for a while now that there is little to no evidence of any mail fraud in 2020, or in any recent decades. Despite this mountain of evidence, Trump continues to make false claims in saying that he and his team are aware of many “security problems”. He continues to downplay the actual voter fraud threat which is foreign interference from countries like Russia, China, and Iran and their attempts to spread misinformation among US voters. If he were bringing light to this more serious issue instead of mail fraud his threats might actually make sense and have some merit behind them.

Trump adds fuel to the fire by promising to contest the election if he loses. One would expect him to need evidence to back up his complaints, but he has shown so far that he doesn’t need it to get his supporters to back him up. This spells trouble on all levels of politics, from the White House to the streets in front of it. No matter who wins the election, officials on both sides of the aisle are bound to challenge the results, and angry protesters are sure to pick up their pickets. With a rise in violent protests plaguing the nation as of late, it’s expected to be one of the worst so far.

The good news is that despite Trump’s threats, he will eventually need actual evidence to officially keep his title in any way. He might be able to delay things for a few days, maybe even a few weeks. Ultimately, however, he will need something concrete to keep Biden out of office. This goes for his political supporters as well, especially if they take to the courts. Judges don’t make rulings on politically motivated hearsay. Only time will tell if Trump is able to come up with anything besides hot air.
