I was watching Jon Stewart, chuckling to myself, when I suddenly realized that he/they were doing the same thing as their enemies. Both republicans and democrats argue with each other using the same tactics. Fox news does the same thing as their enemies. They inflate the problem, make jokes about it, and then change the subject. They do this for a profit, but could it be something more?
Why is it that our media, that we rely on for basic info, does this kind of thing? Why do they spend so much money, so that we can see talking heads argue against each other? Why is there not a combination of the two so that we can find some common ground?

It’s because when both sides start to get along, they become powerful as one group. They become so powerful that they can overthrow big business. They could overthrow the government. They are simply too much to worry about, so the big people in charge pump the breaks and force them to fight. The masses are easier to control this way. They also make a lot of money in the process.
We, as a people, should not fall for this. It’s normal to disagree, but it’s not normal to let a small majority control us. If we all agree that taxes pay for things that help us, then we can try harder to use them appropriately. If we agree that rich people should pay their taxes, then we understand that the rich might become upset. Centralism is hard, but it’s worth it in the end. It moves the human species forward thanks to science, philosophy, and economics.
